SAFD Fire Fighter Training
The San Angelo Fire Department has a Training Academy where our recruits are trained to be certified Firefighters/Paramedics. At the present time it takes approximately 12 months of 8 hour days to get a cadet through rookie school.
While in training our recruits get hands on and classroom training with Live Fire Training, Hazmat Training, EMS training as well as education with overall familiarization and safety.
The Training Academy also ensures that all recruits meet the state and federal mandates for continuing education requirements.
After completion of training and certification the recruits are assigned to Central Fire Station for first hand experience.
